A 1-day journey from Sydney will take visitors to explore the city of Wollongong, Nan Tien Temple, Kiama Blowhole, and many beautiful scenic spots along the way.
Tour Program:
+ Bald Hill - Sea Cliff Bridge: The winding coastal road is one of the most famous and scenic routes in Wollongong. From Bald Hill lookout, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of a picturesque coastline. The group will then cross the iconic Sea Cliff Bridge, curved like an “S” along the steep cliff, suspended above the sea where waves crash into the rocky shore.
+ Flagstaff Hill: This hill marks the location of the first outpost built by Captain James Cook. Today, it is home to a beautiful lighthouse in the heart of Wollongong. Hidden within the hill are old cannon batteries, showcasing a glorious chapter of the British Empire. Here, visitors can play with seagulls, take photos, and capture scenic memories with panoramic views of Wollongong. After enjoying Flagstaff Hill and the beach, the group will have a lunch break, either self-catered or guided to a Vietnamese restaurant for a delicious, familiar meal.
+ Fo Guang Shan - Nan Tien Temple: A Taiwanese temple, considered one of the most beautiful and grand in Australia. In addition to its impressive architecture, Nan Tien Temple features a spacious garden, floral landscapes, stone Buddhist statues, lotus ponds, and the largest Buddhist monastery in Australia. A popular destination among Buddhist followers and travelers alike.
+ Bombo Headland: A headland stretching out into the sea with stunning and dramatic rock formations. This is an ideal spot for ocean lovers and photography enthusiasts to capture unique and striking shots.
+ Kiama Blowhole: Kiama is a small coastal town south of Wollongong. All Wollongong tours visit the rock platform near Kiama Wharf, where layers of black basalt rocks create an impressive scene, especially when large waves crash in. Over millions of years, ocean waves have carved an underwater tunnel through the rocks, forming a natural blowhole. When waves rush into the tunnel, water is forced upward, creating a dramatic spout.
+ Southern Gateway Centre: A beautiful rest stop located on a mountain pass, offering panoramic views of the eastern sea of New South Wales. From May to August each year, lucky visitors may even spot humpback whales migrating from Antarctica to warmer coastal waters during the winter season.
